This is a sweet little blue stained glass butterfly I mounted on this piece of ambrosia maple/aka wormy maple. I made the butterfly from a very light blue slightly opaque glass for the wings and a dark blue glass for the body. I added wire legs and antenna and finished it in a black patina. I have glued the legs down into this base. I stained the wood piece with a natural stain and sealed the it with a low sheen polyurethane.
This particular pale blue glass is old and has ridges, bubbles and waves which don't show up well in pictures.
The total height measures 4 1/2 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches wide by 2 3/4 deep.
It would also make a great gift.
